How it all started...
Grace Baptist Church began in 1964 as an outgrowth of a small group of four couples meeting for prayer in the Waverly/Shell Rock area. Meetings were held in the former Amvets building in Shell Rock. As the church developed, a charter was written, affirmation of faith and a church covenant adopted, and the Articles of Incorporation drawn up. The vacant Church of Christ building in Shell Rock later housed the church until land was purchased in Waverly in August 1964. Many people have come and gone but the mission of Grace has stayed the same: “Spreading our hope in Jesus Christ for the glory of God in all things!”
